Sachin Bansal, a visionary entrepreneur who played a pivotal role in reshaping the landscape of Indian e-commerce, was born on August 5, 1981, in the vibrant city of Chandigarh, Punjab, India. From a young age, Sachin demonstrated a keen interest in technology and innovation. His academic journey led him to pursue a degree in Computer Science Engineering at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi.

After completing his studies, Sachin embarked on his professional journey, landing a role at Techspan for a brief period. In 2006, he ventured into the world of technology giants by joining Amazon Web Services, the cloud computing division of Amazon. It was here that he crossed paths with Binny Bansal, who would become his co-founder and partner in the upcoming venture.

Sachin’s association with Binny Bansal ignited their entrepreneurial spirit, and they envisioned creating an online business that would revolutionize the way India shopped. In October 2007, they took a bold step by co-founding Flipkart with a modest investment of Rs 400,000. Their journey began in a small house in Bangalore, where they established an online bookstore.

In the early days of Flipkart, Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal handled every aspect of their business personally, from packing orders to making deliveries. Their dedication and commitment were unwavering as they tirelessly worked to build their dream.

That same year, Walmart acquired a 77% stake in Flipkart in a historic deal worth $16 billion. Sachin decided to sell his 5.5% ownership stake in Flipkart to Walmart for approximately $1 billion. Following this, he stepped down from his role as the Executive Chairman of Flipkart, citing a desire to focus on personal projects.

Sachin Bansal’s entrepreneurial spirit did not wane. In December 2018, he founded B A C Acquisitions Pvt Ltd with the aim of fostering innovation and technology. He made numerous investments in startups, including Ola Cabs, Gray Orange, Ather Energy, Sig Tuple, INshorts, Unacademy, and team Indus.

Sachin’s entrepreneurial journey continued as he acquired the general insurance brand Co and the housing finance company Dewan Housing Limited through Navi Technologies. He assumed the role of Managing Director at Navi Technologies, where he continues to drive innovation and make significant contributions to the Indian business landscape.
