ISRO launches India’s first private rocket Vikram S

Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has launched the country’s first private rocket Vikram S. This rocket (Vikram S) has been made by the company Skyroot Aerospace located in Hyderabad.

The launching of ‘Vikram S’ took place from the Satish Dhawan Space Center located in Sriharikota. The mission was named ‘Prarambh’. Will give new heights to the entry of private sector in the space industry.

This rocket is made by Skyroot Aerospace. It was named after India’s prominent scientist Vikram Sarabhai. Pawan Goenka, chairman of the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center (in Space), said it was a giant leap for the private sector in India. He congratulated Skyroot for becoming the first Indian company to be authorized to launch first private rocket Vikram S.

Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh said that India is set to create history by launching the first private rocket developed by ‘Skyroot Aerospace’. This is indeed a new beginning, a new dawn and a new initiative in the journey of India’s space programme. It is a turning point for India to develop its own rockets and a turning point in India’s startup movement.

The launch comes two days after the successful launch of NASA’s Artemis-I mission, which in its third attempt, finally managed to send the rocket to space. This is India’s private rocket launch.

What is Skyroot Aerospace ?

Skyroot Aerospace was formed in July 2018 by former Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) scientists Pawan Kumar Chandana, Naga Bharath Daka through the support of Vasudevan Gnanagandhi as well as a small group of entrepreneurs including CureFit founders Mukesh Bansal and Ankit Nagor. Skyroot Aerospace Private Limited is an Indian private aerospace manufacturer and commercial launch service provider. It develops and launch its own series of small lift launch vehicles especially crafted for the small satellite market.
