Education and family
Navjot Simi is a 2018 batch IPS officer of Bihar cadre who possesses the looks of a model. She was born on December 21, 1987, in the Gurdaspur district of Punjab. Hailing from a middle-class family, her father, Hansraj, works in a bank, while her mother is a homemaker. Navjot displayed a studious nature from an early age and completed her primary education in her birthplace. She pursued her studies until the 10th grade at Sunrise Public School. Her childhood aspiration was to become a doctor, and she even appeared for the NEET exam. However, due to scoring low marks, she couldn’t secure admission into an MBBS program. Consequently, she pursued her bachelor’s degree at Jaswant Singh Dental College and Hospital and Research Center.
Navjot Simi: From Aspiring Doctor to IPS Officer
Navjot Simi had a dream of becoming a doctor and pursued studies in Dental Surgery. However, her desire to serve the nation as an IPS officer never wavered. With this aspiration in mind, she began her preparations for the UPSC exams and moved to Delhi for focused studying. In 2015, she joined Raj Coaching Institute for guidance on the UPSC journey. Alongside her preparations, she also appeared for the Punjab PCS (Punjab Civil Services) exam, which she successfully cleared. However, due to a legal case regarding the Punjab PCS recruitment process, the matter went to court.
Undeterred, Navjot attempted the UPSC exam for the first time in 2016 but did not achieve success. Nevertheless, fueled by renewed determination, she appeared for the UPSC exam again in 2017 and secured an impressive rank of 735th. Her exceptional performance led her to be allotted the Bihar cadre upon becoming an IPS officer.

Their love story and Office Wedding
Navjot Simi, along with IAS officer Tushar, tied the knot on Valentine’s Day in 2020. Their wedding became quite famous because they got married in the office. At that time, Simi was working as an ACP in Patna, Bihar, while Tushar held the position of SDO in Howrah, West Bengal. Even though they had been in a relationship for a year, their decision to have an office wedding surprised many people and caused a lot of discussions on social media.
When asked about why they chose such an unconventional venue for their wedding. They explained that due to the limited time available, they made the decision to get married in their offices. The news of their marriage quickly spread across various social media platforms and became a hot topic among people.
