Education and Challenges

Surabhi Gautam was born in 1993 in the village of Amdara, located in the Satna district of Madhya Pradesh. She began her schooling in a government school and excelled in her 12th-grade exams. After 12th-grade exams, Surabhi cleared the state engineering entrance examination and enrolled in an Electronics and Communication engineering program at a college in Bhopal. Transitioning from a Hindi-medium school to an English-medium college presented significant challenges. However, Surabhi was undeterred. She made a steadfast commitment to learn the English language alongside her regular college studies.

Academic Excellence

Surabhi’s dedication paid off, as she not only adapted to the language but also excelled in her studies. In her first semester of college, she secured the top position in her class and received the College Chancellor’s Award in recognition of her achievements.

Pursuing a Dream Beyond Corporate Offers

Upon completing her college degree, Surabhi received a job offer from TCS. However, her ambitions reached far beyond the corporate world. Her heart was set on becoming an IAS (Indian Administrative Service) officer, a dream she had nurtured for years. To achieve this goal, she embarked on an intense journey of preparation, taking numerous competitive exams, including BARC, ISRO, GTE, SAIL, MPPSC, SSC, FCI, and Delhi Police.

In 2013, Surabhi achieved a remarkable feat by securing the All India First Rank in the IES (Indian Engineering Services) examination. However, her ultimate aspiration was to become an IAS officer. Her dedication and hard work culminated in 2016 when she secured the 50th position in the prestigious UPSC examination on her first attempt, fulfilling her lifelong dream.

Current Role and Achievements

IAS Surabhi Gautam, now an IAS officer, serves as an Assistant Collector in Viramgam District, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. She has also held the position of District Development Officer and previously worked as an Assistant Collector in Vadodara district, Gujarat. While she achieved success in various competitive exams, her ultimate dream of becoming an IAS officer became a reality. In the civil services examination, she scored a total of 1054 marks, with notable achievements in different subjects and a remarkable score of 198 in the personality test.
