Today we will tell you the biography of IAS Smita Sabharwal, who passed the Civil Services Examination at the age of just 22. He did lot of reforms in Telangana state and helped the people in different ways. People called her the officer of the public. Let us know about his life and her IAS career-

Her family and education

Smita Sabharwal was born on 19 June 1977 in Darjeeling, Bengal. His father’s name is Pranab Das and mother’s name is Purbi Das. Father is retired army officer. Due to having a job in the army, Smita has grown up in different cities. Her father shifted to Hyderabad after retirement. Smita has done her studies from ninth grade onwards in Hyderabad. He completed her 12th from St. Ann’s Marredpally Hyderabad. He secured All India First Rank in his Class XII (ICSE Board). She did her B.Com from St. Francis Degree College for Women.

Husband and children

Her husband’s name is Dr. IPS Akun Sabharwal and they have two children named Nanak and Bhuvish.

UPSC journey

Smita Sabharwal passed the UPSC exam at the age of 22. She could not clear the prelims in the first attempt. But in 2000, she passed the exam in her second attempt and became the youngest student to pass the exam. He secured 4th rank in the examination. His first appointment was as Sub-Collector of Chittoor District, Andhra Pradesh. And then after working in several districts of Andhra Pradesh for almost a decade, he was made the DM of Karimnagar district in 2011.

IAS Smita Sabharwal worked as Project Director in the Rural Development Sector in Cuddapah, Commissioner, Warangal Municipal Corporation where she initiated the Fund Your City scheme. Under this scheme, traffic junction, bus stop, park, foot overbridge were constructed. In 2011, being the district collector in Karimnagar, She did a lot of work in the field of health and education, in which she started the Ammallana project and this project was successful, due to which she got the Prime Minister Excellence Award. Apart from this, Karimnagar also received the best city award during her tenure.
