Who is Smita Sabharwal ?
Smita Sabharwal’s father Colonel Pranab Das being in the army, Smita grew up in many cities. He completed his schooling from St. Ann’s High School, Secunderabad. He topped ISC in 12th. Because of which his father encouraged him to join the civil service. Smita graduated in commerce from St. Francis College for Women, Hyderabad. Smita secured the fourth rank in the UPSC exam in the year 2000 and became an IAS at the age of just 22.
IAS Smita’s appointment
IAS Smita’s first appointment was as Sub-Collector in Chittoor. She has been Project Director of Cuddapah Rural Development Agency, Municipal Corporation Commissioner of Warangal and Joint Collector of Kurnool. She has also been posted in places like Visakhapatnam and Karimnagar. In the year 2021, She became the District Collector of Karimnagar district where she did a lot of work in the field of health and education. She started the Ammallana project in the health sector and this project ran successfully, due to which she got Prime Minister Excellence Award. Smita is the first woman who posted in the Chief Minister’s Office of Telangana State.
Exam preparation
Regarding the preparation of the exam, Smita says that she used to study for six hours a day and along with this, she used to take out one hour for sports activity. Smita failed in her first attempt and could not clear the prelims exam, but in the second On the basis of her hard work, she got the fourth rank in the UPSC Civil Services Examination. Smita, despite having a commerce background, chose Anthropology and Public Administration as optional subjects.
Controversy related to Smita Sabharwal
Smita Sabharwal’s name is also associated with a controversy. She sent a notice to Outlook magazine for publishing an objectionable cartoon. The magazine’s cartoon showed Smita walking a ramp and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was photographing her. It was also written that Smita comes to the meeting wearing trendy saree and clothes. Objecting to this cartoon, Smita had sent a legal notice to Outlook seeking a reply. Later the outlook magazine deleted this photo.
