Biography of IAS Kanishka Kataria

IAS Kanishak Kataria’s family

Kanishak Kataria was born on 26 September 1992 in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Kanishak’s  father’s name is Sanwarmal Verma who is a civil servant, his mother is a homemaker, his sister’s name is Tanmaya Kataria who is a medical student in Sawai Man Singh Hospital. His uncle K.C. Verma, also an IAS officer who is the Divisional Commissioner  in Jaipur. His girlfriend’s name is Sonal Chauhan who works as a software developer at Rakuten Inc.  in Tokyo.

Kanishak’s Education

Kanishak was a brilliant student since childhood. He has completed his schooling from Kota. He has done his class 12th from Kota’s St. Paul’s Sr. Sec. School. After this he started studying in IIT. In 2010, he showed his mettle by securing 44th rank in IIT exam. Thereafter, he completed his B.Tech in Computer Science from IIT Mumbai in 2014. He also used to teach in the Mathematics Department there.

career

After his graduation, he interned at Microsoft as a software developer. After this, he was a Teaching Assistant in IIT Bombay for 06 months. Apart from this, he worked in Samsung Electronics in Korea as a software engineer. After that he came back to India and started working as a Data Scientist in Bangalore.

UPSC preparation

Leaving the job of Data Scientist, he started preparing for UPSC. He used to study for 08-10 hours a day. This was his first attempt. He topped this exam in his first attempt itself. His optional subject was Mathematics, he gave credit for this success to his girlfriend Sonal Chauhan along with his family.

Marks of Kanishk Kataria

Kataria secured first position in her very first attempt. Kanishk got 1121 marks out of 2025 marks. He had 942 marks in the written test and 179 marks in the interview. He had secured a total of 55.35 % marks. Presently he is posted as SDO in Ramganj Mandi, Kota, Rajasthan.

Kanishak’s suggestion

IAS Kanishak Kataria says that getting passed in UPSC is a continuous process. In this you need inspiration. Never let yourself be discouraged, Be positive. You should prepare by making a strategy. You can be hopeless because of the fear of failure, but have faith in yourself. Apart from this, while choosing an optional subject, also keep in mind that in which subject you are interested. You should not find that subject a burden.
