Deepak Rawat was born on 24 September 1977 in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand. Deepak did his studies from St. George’s College, Mussoorie. He came to Delhi for college studies. He completed his graduation from Hansraj College, University of Delhi. Later he did his post graduation from Jawaharlal Nehru University. His wife’s name is Vijeta Singh, who is an officer in judicial services. They have two children named Diriya and Divya.
UPSC journey
IAS Deepak Rawat prepared for UPSC by looking at his friends who were busy preparing for UPSC and becoming IAS. Deepak had achieved success by clearing the UPSC exam with hard work but he selected for IRS. He again prepared for IAS and this time his dream of becoming an IAS came true. He completed his training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration. Deepak Rawat secured All India 12th rank in UPSC exam in the year 2007. Earlier in 2005, he selected in JRF, after which he started getting Rs 8000 per month. that helped them meet their expenses.

Deepak Rawat served as District Magistrate of Bageshwar from 2011 to 2012, Managing Director of Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam, Uttarakhand, District Magistrate of Nainital from 2014 to 2017, District Magistrate of Haridwar from 2017. In 2021 में MD-PTCUL, MD-UPCL and Director Uttarakhand Renewable Energy Development Agency and currently working as Commissioner of Kumaon. He has also been awarded the National Award by Union Minister Smriti Irani in 2019.
