IAS Ansar Shaikh is a resident of Jalna village in Maharashtra. He passed this exam only at the age of 21. Shaikh secured 371st rank in the country’s prestigious UPSC exam. He achieved this position through hard work. Today he is contributing to the service of the nation.
Ansar’s father used to drive an auto rickshaw and mother used to work as a laborer in agriculture. The financial condition of his family was poor. Amidst the financial condition of the family, his father and relatives had asked him to leave his studies. In an interview given to the media, he told that ‘Abba had reached my school to get rid of studies, but my teacher explained to him and told that he is very good in studies. After that, he somehow did Class 10. After this, Ansar scored 91 percent in Class 12, then the family members never stopped him from studying again.

His younger brother Anees dropped out of school in seventh grade and started working in a garage to help Ansar prepare for his IAS exam.
Ansar Shaikh graduated in Political Science from Fergusson College, Pune. He secured 73 percent marks in it. He worked for almost 12 hours every day for three consecutive years while preparing for UPSC and joined coaching for a year. Looking at the financial condition, the coaching academy had waived a part of his fees.
Ansar Shaikh is an IAS officer of the West Bengal Cadre; In the year 2016, he got his first posting as SDO in Cooch Behar, West Bengal.

Ansar Ahmed Sheikh said in an interview about his success, “There is no substitute for hard work. During my struggle, my friends helped me a lot mentally and financially and even my coaching academy waived off a part of the fees due to my poor financial condition.
Ansar says that ‘Many people give excuses that they are poor. But remember that poverty and success are two different things and are not related. You must be hardworking and determined towards your goal. Your background doesn’t matter much. The only thing that matters is you.’
