Rajasthan Day is celebrated every year on 30 March. On March 30, 1949, the princely states of Jodhpur, Jaipur, Jaisalmer and Bikaner were merged to form a greater Rajasthan Union. That is why this day is called Rajasthan Foundation Day.
Rajasthan has been the place of kings and emperors. Here Gurjar, Rajput, Maurya, Jat etc had ruled earlier. After the declaration of independence of India by the British rulers, the process of transfer of power began. With the declaration of independence, the princes of the princely states of Rajputana wanted to maintain their power in the independent state as well. At that time there were a total of twenty two princely states in this region.
Except for one princely state, Ajmer Merwada province, the rest of the princely states were ruled by native kings and emperors. Ajmer-Merwada province was occupied by the British rulers. All the princely states were to be merged to form a province called Srajasthanya. This was very difficult because the rulers of these princely states were looking at the merger of their princely states into independent India as a second priority. Their demand was that they themselves have been running the rule of their states for years, they have long experience of this, that is why their princely state should be given the status of ‘independent state’.
The process of integration of Rajasthan, which started on March 18, 1948, was completed on November 1, 1956 in a total of seven phases amid efforts of nearly a decade. In this, the role of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and his secretary V.P. Menon was very important. The present form of Rajasthan could be created only because of his understanding.
Rajasthan built in seven stages

A total of 17 representatives were sent from Rajasthan who became members of the Constituent Assembly on 28 April 1947. With the participation of the representatives of the kings in the Constituent Assembly, the way for the reorganization and integration of the states was paved. The kings fully respected the public sentiments of the princely states, in the same way the public leaders also maintained the respect of the kings. On March 18, 1948, the princely states of Alwar, Bharatpur, Dhaulpur, Karauli merged to form the Matsya Sangh.
